I first started going there about a year ago and the service was great and everyone was really friendly but as they hired a few new people the service started getting worse the workers aren’t as friendly and the last time I had ordered sushi (basic California roll) it was really poorly cut and already fell apart n was warm (GROSS !) I couldn’t even it eat and I’m pretty upset because I’ve noticed my friends having the same problems just glad I didn’t get food poisoning from that warm smooshed California roll .. unfortunate I used to love it from here!

Amazing fresh sushi with lots of variety & unique specialty rolls. I eat here weekly & it never disappoints. Great daily drink specials too. Nothing like a tall cold beer with hot saki & a big delicious sushi roll.

This is the only place in the 805 that I get my sushi, hands down the absolute best! On top of that Steve and his staff are wonderful people, and offer the best service.

Just wonderful! There are truly not enough words to describe how amazing this place is! The food alone is top notch quality and the workers are just the same. (Shout-out to Lauren if you ever see this from the Dodger fans). I highly recommend coming here for a fun dinner out and especially if it is your birthday!

I adore this restaurant! They offer decent dishes, they have a nice menu, The chef in that spot is a professional, I enjoy very much eating all their dishes. The food is always fresh, the service towards the clients is good. I frequently visit this place and I was never unsatisfied. I recommend it to all.

The best sushi I've ever had. I used to work next store and eat there at least twice week. I moved to Fresno just over a year ago and I miss it so much!! I get it every time I go to the coast. Friendly staff and the best sushi rolls anywhere.

Best sushi in Grover Beach! Small, but great atmosphere! Friendly staff and specialty rolls to die for:) The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that they are a little slow and have a lot of turn around with servers.

Around this area, this place is bar none. Because of it's location you could call it a "hole-in-the-wall" but only because of that one factor. Otherwise, this is the place to go to get the best sushi around town. The staff is really friendly and the drinks are always flowing. I highly recommend ordering any of the specials posted on the walls.

Best Chirashi and sushi rolls! Kids loved the Tempura and the Galbi Ramen hit the spot on this cloudy day at Grover Beach. Our Server, Nate is the sweetest person and told us about the large Hite beer and Sake special.

I used to work there. The owners, Steve and Jane, we're super cool and would have staff holiday parties. The place was clean and well-run and the food was awesome. All day I would surf and dream of sushi. Then after my night shift, we would place orders before the fish got put away and I would come home with a big bad of sushi and a fist full of cash tips. I work as a full time hospital physician now and still daydream about those good times.

Good food, great staff. Very attentive service staff with great fun attitudes and some incredible food creations. The saki ain't bad either.

Steve the Owner and Head Sushi chef is great and offers delicious recommendations! If you can sit at the counter, but don't take our spot!! LoL

What a great find! We were passing through the area and stopped at this gem. Best sushi we have had on the Central Coast. Authentic Japanese chef and great service. So happy we found this place.

Best sushi ever. Love being part of the family. They are the best Update 2/17/18We hadn't been there for six months and it was like we never missed a weekend. The Yamato family proved once again that they are the best in the five cities. Steve, Sam, Cristine,, Nate, and the all too beautiful "Lauren " were on their game again. Thanks all for the wonderful evening. Always fun and delicious. Steve's creative dishes and knife skills are second to none. You got to go!

Got to try this tonight for the first time and sushi was delicious. Fresh fish with fresh avocado. Got the Grover beach roll and a dragon roll and i couldn't stop eating it. Definitely Gonna be eating here again

Steve is the Itamae (owner/head sushi chef). He has prepared the best sushi, hands down, any where with in 200 miles.

Great sushi but if it’s busy it’ll sit there and get warm. The service varies A LOT depending on what day/ time you go there.

Been my favorite for a couple decades... Steve was there, so of course it was 5 star! Fresh, delicious and innovative!

Pretty much No food except apatisers under $10. Was a freaking 45 minutes until our first plate came and we ordered as we sat down. We asked for extra pickled ginger - never showed. Asked for extra set of sake/beer glasses- had to remind 20 minutes later. Asked for extra chopsticks after I accidentally dropped mine on ground - never came. The extra star is because my friends were nice enough to pay so the experience wasn't maximum lame.

Not so good sushi. Tiny unappealing rolls that were overpriced.Staff was loudly talking about personal stuff as well. This place has gone down hill.

Loved the sushi, the service, & saki of course! We had the last two Alaskan King Crab rolls...excellent! NATE was prompt, friendly, & professional. Also had the Green Tea Tempura Ice Cream...Wow! I normally don't even like tempura in my dessert. Very good😁 Thank you.
